Fudge was highly placed throughout his career.  Notably gaining an Excellent under Mr. Louis Donald at the 1998 Main Breed Show in Melbourne then Excellent Medallions at the National German Shepherd Dog shows in Adelaide (1999), Brisbane (2000), Melbourne (2001) and now in Sydney (2002).

Fudge’s progeny have done him proud.

His matings to Tobareeny Whistling Dixie produced lovely progeny and the following have attained their A & Z stamps and Breed Survey Class 1 status. The first litter produced Saarbachtal OschiOschi”, Saarbachtal Olivia “Ally” and brother Saarbachtal Odin “Lupo”. This mating was repeated - producing Saarbachtal Pure Zambo “Scud” and Pure ZarboZarbo”. The third time produced Saarbachtal Red Renata and Saarbachtal Rhianna’.

At the 2000 West Coast Challenge Show, Fudge’s progeny were represented from Baby through to Intermediate classes; ALL were placed on the pegs.

At the 2001 West Coast Challenge Fudge’s progeny placings on the pegs were

Saarbachtal Pure Zarbo – 1st Puppy Dog,

Jentol  Crakas Yanni 5th Puppy Bitch,

Saarbachtal Olivia 4th Open Bitch,

Saarbachtal Oschi 7th Open Bitch and

Fudge was 3rd Open Dog.

At the 2002 GSDCA National show in Sydney – Our boy - Fudge was Excellent 12 – whilst the kids were placed as follows:

Saarbachtal Olivia was 9th Open Bitch,

Saarbachtal Pure Zarbo and Pure Zambo were 6th & 7th Junior Dogs.

His other two daughters Friedental Vadas Terra and Jentol Crakas Yanni were both respectfully placed and graded very good in a beautiful class of Junior Bitches.

Sadly, within two weeks of returning to Perth – Fudge suffered a massive stroke caused through an aggressive tumour on his spleen and he closed his eyes on April 16th with those he loved most of all by his side (Steve, Eric and myself).  Words can never express the way we felt at that time.  As we drove to the vets, John Fenner (GSD speciality judge and surveyor) rang to say that his bitch, Dixie had gone into labour and Fudge’s last litter began their journey into this life.

This was Saarbachtal’s third mating of Fudge and Dixie (Tobarenny Whistlin Dixie) a sable boy, two sable girls and FINALLY two black and gold girls.  All these pups are placed within our “dog” family.  John Fenner gave us the very special gift of Saarbachtal Red Renata (Red) – something we shall always be grateful to him for.

Cards, letters, phone calls, flowers, rose bushes and gifts arrived from our dear friends within the German Shepherd community – all the cards are cherished in a special folder.

The State Breed Exhibition was held the following weekend and fittingly his daughter Saarbachtal Olivia (Ally) was named State Seigerin, her sister Oschi was Excellent 1 and brother Odin (Lupo) was 5th Open Dog.  Younger brothers, Pure Zarbo (Zarbo) and Pure Zambo (Scud) were placed 2nd and 3rd Junior dogs.  Scud and Zarbo have recently joined the ranks of Stud Dogs and have already produced some lovely puppies.

We are certain that the influence from the progeny of Fudge and Dixie will continue into the next generation.

Fudge and Dixie have been reunited at Rainbow Bridge – we know Fudge will be happy to be with his first love once again.

The loss of Fudge affected many of his “team” he was probably the only dog with his personal trainers, waterboy, groomer, vet, chiropractor, photographer, swim coach and an extra ordinary support team that shared in his training and all formed his cheer squad. Thanks to the A-team

Our darling Red has continued the family tradition and her first mating to Quosh has produced Adashad Stevie Nicks
